Verse 1

There’s nothing worth more that will ever come close

No thing can compare You’re our living hope

Your Presence

Verse 2

I’ve tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves

Where my heart becomes free and my shame is undone

In Your Presence Lord

Chorus

Holy Spirit You are welcome here

Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere

Your glory God is what our hearts long for

To be overcome by Your Presence Lord

Interlude

Your Presence Lord

Interlude

Your Presence Lord

Your Presence

Oh God how we love Your Presence Lord

Bridge

Let us become more aware of Your Presence

Let us experience the glory of Your goodness (Lord)

How He Loves Me   CCLI Song #5032549

Verse 1

He is jealous for me loves like a hurricane

I am a tree bending beneath

The weight of His wind and mercy

When all of a sudden I am unaware of

These afflictions eclipsed by glory

I realize just how beautiful You are

And how great Your affections are for me

Pre-Chorus

Oh how He loves us so

Oh how He loves us

How He loves us so

Chorus

He loves us

Oh how He loves us

Oh how He loves us

Oh how He loves

Verse 2

We are His portion and He is our prize

Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes

If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking

So Heaven meets earth

Like a sloppy wet unforeseen kiss

And my heart turns violently inside of my chest

I don’t have time to maintain these regrets

When I think about the way that

Pre-Chorus

Oh how He loves us so

Oh how He loves us

How He loves us so

Chorus

He loves us

Oh how He loves us

Oh how He loves us

Oh how He loves

Passage (Slides)  Joseph of Arimathea  Luke 23:50-56

Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph who, though a member of the council, had not agreed to the council’s  plan and actions to get rid of Jesus.

Joseph came from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was faithful before God and expectantly waiting for the kingdom of God.

As Jesus’ death was confirmed, Joseph went to Pilate and asked for the body.

With Pilate’s approval, Joseph took Jesus’ body from the cross. He wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid it in a rock-hewn tomb where no other body had ever been laid.

This was the day of Preparation, the day before the Sabbath.

This was also the day before the Passover. The season when the Israelites recognized God’s deliverance from slavery and death.

The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph at a distance to see the tomb where Jesus’ body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments.

On the Sabbath they rested in accordance with the law.

Join me in the prayer of Jesus,

Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be your name.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Forgive us our trespasses, while we forgive those who trespass against us.

And, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

Olympic Torch Relay

  • 2024 details – Singular focus
  • Prometheus – Fire (Nudge)
  • Let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who has endured such hostility against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1b-3

Joseph of Arimathea – a man of faith who landed in season of turmoil.

  • Unexpected knottiness
  • Uunity/disagreement/brotherhood/rejection/hostility
  • Faith restricted, times when religion insisted he ‘BE something else’
  • Joseph appears cowardly
  • God’s time – Joseph uses voice to disagree
  •  In right time, Joseph steps in – God’s timing (NC Youth)
  • Coward? Staying on destination that now looks different than brothers
  • True faith – Waiting, Walking, Speaking, Stepping up and into
  • Needed hero, no one else was ready/willing to do this. His Destination.

Called by God

  • We are not all called to the same journey, but we are all called to the same destination.
  • We are not called to the same path, but we are all called to the same love.
  • We are not all called to the same steps, but we are all called to the same unity.
  • We are not all called to the same practices, but, we are called to the same motivation and purpose.

In 1884 during unsure times, British preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon spoke to his church about Joseph of Arimethia, ending his message with these words of encouragement

Let this be remembered in the cloudy and dark days. If you live in any place where the faithful have fallen, do not wring your hands in grief and sit down in despair, as though it was all over with the cause you love. The Lord liveth, and the Lord will yet keep a faithful seed alive in the earth.

Another Joseph of Arimathæa will come forward at the desperate moment: just when we cannot do without that Joseph, when we most need that Joseph this Joseph will step up.

There was a Joseph for Israel in Egypt, and there was a Joseph for Jesus on the cross. A Joseph played the father’s roll at Jesus’ birth, and another Joseph arranged for Jesus’ burial. The Lord shall not be left without friends, God will always give us a Joseph

When the eyes of God’s servant Eli failed and his sons made themselves vile, a mother, a Joseph, brought a little boy, a Joseph, to serve in the sanctuary of God. A child who became a man named Samuel who brought the people through deliverance from oppression.

God hath to-day somewhere, in yon obscure cottage of an English village, or in a log-hut far away in the backwoods of America, or in the slums of our back streets, or in our palaces, a person, a Joseph, who the Lord is making ready, and when the time shall come, when the hour shall want, shall need, this person, that Joseph shall be found. A Joseph of Arimathæa arrives at exactly the needed time, a well of consolation for all who have the cause of God laid upon their hearts.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Preached July 6, 1884, London Metropolitan Tabernacle,  Pulpit Vol 30, adapted

Holding On To Hope  (Slides) Rick

Source

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

Calling to Be Avenue of  Hope

Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not just choose to please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for our neighbors’ good, to his edification. For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on Me.”

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another, according to Christ Jesus, so that with one purpose and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:1-6

Daily Prayer for Hope

God, may I, minute by minute, grasp the truth that you alone are my hope.

Lord, may my actions, step by step, be proof of that truth revealed to the world.

Spirit, may I walk, run, wait, stand, play, and even rest according to your leading.  Amen.

Closing Peace (Slides) Rick

Leader: May the peace of the Lord go with you.

Response: And also with you.

Sweet Sweet Spirit   CCLI Song # 18204

Verse 1

There’s a sweet sweet Spirit

in this place

And I know that it’s the

Spirit of the Lord

There are sweet expressions

on each face

And I know they feel

the presence of the Lord

Chorus

Sweet Holy Spirit

Sweet heavenly Dove

Stay right here with us

Filling us with Your love

And for these blessings

We lift our hearts in praise

Without a doubt we’ll know

That we have been revived

When we shall leave this place
