There is none beside You

Open up my eyes in wonder and show me who You are

It is a firm foundation

I will put my trust in You alone

And I will not be shaken

Passage (Slides) Genesis 21:16-18   Lars

Then Hagar went and sat down a good way off, opposite her son Ishmael. She was about the distance of a bowshot when she said, “Do not let me look on the death of my son.”

And as Hagar sat opposite Ishmael, she lifted up her voice and wept. And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her,

“What troubles you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of your son Ishmael where he is. Come, lift up the boy and hold him fast with your hand, for I will make a great nation of him.”

Join me in the prayer of Jesus,

Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be your name.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Forgive us our trespasses, while we forgive those who trespass against us.

And, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

Speaker Introduction  Grace

(Title slide)

Kyle Tubbs, CBF OK Coordinator, was our scheduled speaker for this morning, however, Kyle ended up in the hospital and so is unable to join us. However, Sarah Stewart, pastor of FBC OKC, came to our rescue suggesting that we reach out to Kevin Driskill who she strongly recommended and who is a faithful member of her church, OKC FBC. Kevin currently lives in Pauls Valley with his childhood sweetheart Lisa, Driskill. They have six kids and five grandkids all of which are in the Pauls Valley area except for one who is in Georgia. Keven served as pastor here in Oklahoma at Byars Baptist Church for 17 years. He currently teaches Graphic Design at Mid America Tech Center. Dad wanted me to make sure to say that he is very excited about the passage that Kevin has chosen for this morning as it fills an important hole between the promise to Abraham and the birth of Samuel in the narrative story we have been looking at. He also says that he wished he had included this story in our summer series about untold Biblical characters and seldom recognized stories in scripture – therefore he is very glad that Kevin is sharing what the Spirit has led him to see in the life of Hagar. Welcome Kevin.
