Sweet Sweet Spirit   CCLI Song # 18204

Verse 1

There’s a sweet sweet Spirit

in this place

And I know that it’s the

Spirit of the Lord

There are sweet expressions

on each face

And I know they feel the presence of the Lord

Chorus

Sweet Holy Spirit

Sweet heavenly Dove

Stay right here with us

Filling us with Your love

And for these blessings

We lift our hearts in praise

Without a doubt we’ll know

That we have been revived

When we shall leave this place

Verse 2

There are blessings

you cannot receive

Till you know Him

in His fullness and believe

You’re the one to profit

when you say

I am going to walk with Jesus all the way

Chorus

Sweet Holy Spirit

Sweet heavenly Dove

Stay right here with us

Filling us with Your love

And for these blessings

We lift our hearts in praise

Without a doubt we’ll know

That we have been revived

When we shall leave this place

No Other Gods

Verse 1

The God of the heavens

The Ancient of Days

The God of our fathers

And God of my praise

The Alpha Omega

Beginning and End

Forever and ever

Your kingdom will stand

We come to bow before You now

We come to lay our lives down

Chorus

We will have no other gods before You

Nothing on earth will compete for Your throne

You are the sov’reign I Am

And You’ll reign in our hearts alone

We will exalt You on high forever

King of all kings and the Lord of all lords

We will have no other gods before You

Verse 2

Our Maker Creator

Before time began

Messiah and Savior

Redeemer and Friend

Our Rock of Salvation

So faithful and true

We give all the glory

And honor to You

For You alone are worthy

Of our never-ending love

Chorus

We will have no other gods before You

Nothing on earth will compete for Your throne

You are the sov’reign I Am

And You’ll reign in our hearts alone

We will exalt You on high forever

King of all kings and the Lord of all lords

We will have no other gods before You

Passage (Slides) Isaiah  Daniel 3:13-30

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood before King Nebuchadnezzar as he asked them, “Is it true that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden statue?”

“Let’s fix this situation now, when you hear the sound of the ensemble, just fall down and worship the statue, it’s no big deal. But, if you don’t, you will immediately be thrown into the blazing fire, and let’s face it, no god who will be able to deliver you.”

All three responded, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to fix anything. If our God is able to deliver us, let him deliver us. But, regardless of the outcome, we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue that you have set up.”

Nebuchadnezzar’s face revealed his rage against the three. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual and his strongest guards to throw them into the furnace of blazing fire.

The furnace was so overheated that the raging flames reached out and killed the men who threw the three into the fire.

As Nebuchadnezzar looked into the fire he was astonished and called to his counselors asking, “We only threw three into the fire, correct?” They answered the king, “Yes, O king.” The shocked Nebuchadnezzar said, “I see four men walking around in the fire unharmed. The fourth looks like a god.”

Nebuchadnezzar called the three out from the fire and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who has delivered his servants. They disobeyed my command risking their lives rather than serve or worship any god but their God.”

The King made a new decree: ‘Anyone who utters blasphemy against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be brutally punished.”

Join me in the prayer of Jesus,

Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be your name./ Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven./ Give us this day our daily bread./ Forgive us our trespasses, while we forgive those who trespass against us./  And, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil./  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

Had It Not Been The Lord #661644

Verse 1

Had it not been the Lord who was on our side

Had it not been the Lord who was on our side

The anger of the enemy would have swallowed us alive

Had it not been the Lord who was on our side

Chorus

Blessed be the Lord who would not give us up

Blessed be the Lord for His unfailing love

The snare is broken and we have escaped

Our help is in the name of the Lord

(Blessed be the Lord)

Verse 2

Had it not been the Lord who was on our side

Had it not been the Lord who was on our side

The water would have engulfed us

We would have surely died

Had it not been the Lord who was on our side

Ending

Our help is in the name of the Lord

Blessed be the Lord

Book of Daniel Introduction

Took place during Exile-why is exile important to revisit? Pivotal season (birth and resurrection of Jesus plus exile), ownership of promise and faith.

  • Land Promise, a place for people and God, farm land/pasture, holy city, Temple (God’s presence), all three neglected by Isrealites then destroyed by Babylonians. Exiled
  • People/Community  Promise – Effort to divide, destroy community. Still exist today around world and within America.Gatherings/Synagogues.
  • Blessing/Hope Promise – Efforts that minimize/destroy followers impact.Compromise of promise.
  • Stories of Daniel and contemporaries, Shadrach, Meshac, Abednego
    • Stories from exile probably around 500 BC.
    • Small group of young men given privilege in Baylon as Slaves.
    • Collective stories. King, Daniel, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
  • Stories written for people 3 hundred years plus later.
    • During ‘absence’ time of ‘silence’ (400 years of silence)
    • Time people felt abandoned and forgotten by God
    • Like time of exile, this pre-Jesus people once again were oppressed and facing trails of faith & issues of trust in God
    • Time of fear to be public about faith, fearful/hidden faith community.
    • Written to encourage faith of Israelites in an unfaithful time
    • Written  to give a concrete example of faith.
  • Examples of faith that grow trust and hollow/absent faith w/no trust.
    • King responded to God’s acts with a demand of worship/faith/obedience to true God in one moment but then demand worship towards him/gods of Babylonians soon after.
    • 3 men demonstrate faith seen in statement to King – “Regardless of the outcome, we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue that you have set up.”
    • Regardless faith leads to Resolute Faith.
  • Problem w/Evangelical movement since Christianity favored by Politics/governments, collusion 300 plus years after Jesus. Thinking it is about our prayer of faith in the moment but salvation is a journey. Has led to unholy collusion and heretical governance. Trump Bible.
  • Work on your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12-13)
  • Example of Jesus  when he called disciples saying ‘follow me’, but not till later that Peter recognized that Jesus was Messiah when he answered the question ‘who do you say that I am?’ was he revealing his full decision to follow, to say ‘yes’ to God. Then Jesus was able to call him, ‘feed my sheep’. Salvation is not about heaven or hell, it is about LIFE.

Second (strange) verse in July Exit Song,

‘There are blessings you cannot receive till you know Him in His fullness and believe. You’re the one to profit  when you say I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.’

O Praise The Name (Anástasis)  CCLI Song # 7037787

Verse 1

I cast my mind to Calvary

Where Jesus bled and died for me

I see His wounds His hands His feet

My Saviour on that cursed tree

Verse 2

His body bound and drenched in tears

They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb

The entrance sealed by heavy stone

Messiah still and all alone

Chorus

O praise the Name of the Lord our God

O praise His Name forevermore

For endless days we will sing Your praise

Oh Lord oh Lord our God

Verse 3

Then on the third at break of dawn

The Son of heaven rose again

O trampled death where is your sting

The angels roar for Christ the King

Chorus

O praise the Name of the Lord our God

O praise His Name forevermore

For endless days we will sing Your praise

Oh Lord oh Lord our God

Verse 4

He shall return in robes of white

The blazing sun shall pierce the night

And I will rise among the saints

My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face

Chorus

O praise the Name of the Lord our God

O praise His Name forevermore

For endless days we will sing Your praise

Oh Lord oh Lord our God

Closing Responsive Reading Benediction (Slides)  Rick

Leader: God does not waver in his promise, God does not give up on those who love him and do as he directs.

Response: We are not always faithful, we are not always obedient. We do evil, we rebel, we take detours around God’s paths.

Leader: God is righteous, we are not.

Response: God is merciful, God grieves over our disobedience.

Leader: God commands us to love others yet we hate and condemn. God corrects us and we again rise in rebellion.

Response: God’s mercies are never ending, his love for us is never finished.

Leader: Even in our sinful state we cry out for God to shine again on us, to show us the true glory of peace and joy.

Response: Even in our sinful state we know that God will bend down his ear to us and hear our plea.

Leader: We ask for open eyes to see our own state. We do not ask based on our own merits or actions but on God’s righteous mercy and love.

Response: We wait for God to hear and forgive, to listen and to act. God will not quicken his steps because we are impatient but because God is love.

Leader: God is the God of transformation, may we leave here as beings ready for our transformation.

Response: We lay down those things that limit God’s transformation in our lives.

Leader: Amen.

Response: Amen.     (Daniel’s prayer, Daniel 9)

Closing Peace (Slides) Rick

Leader: May the peace of the Lord go with you.

Response: And also with you.
